Obituary for Edward William “Rusty” Rupert Edward William “Rusty” Rupert, 61 of Johnson City, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, September 1, 2018. A native of Williamsport, PA he is the son of the late Paul Samuel and Doris (Deeter) Rupert. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 20 years, Nancy Ruth Rupert.

Rusty graduated from University High School in 1975 and later received his Bachelors in business management from Northeast State Community College. He was a member of Apostolic Church of Lord Jesus Christ in Kingsport, TN. Rusty never met anyone he didn’t like, and loved kids.

He also loved riding Harley’s, Braves’ baseball, the Tennessee Volunteers, John Wayne, and his eclectic music collection. Those left to cherish Rusty’s memory include: step-son, Scott King (Simmali); grandchildren, Daniel King, Josh King (Jackie), and Angel King; siblings, Vincent Rupert (Elizabeth), Kathleen Rohrer (Joseph), and Lorri Fields; sister-in-law, Sue Osborne; nieces and nephews, Crystal Rhodes (Matt), Jamie Graham, Kaylee Rohrer, Cody Rohrer, Sam Rohrer, Joy Peterson, Taylor Pope, Keira Pope, Loretta Bowers (Bob), and Sunny Pope; great-nieces and nephews, Jamison, Alex, Graysen, Brooklynn, Nathan, Melanie, Cassie, and Robby; and several great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Johnson City Medical Center.

The family will gather to receive friends from 5:00 PM until a Celebration of Rusty’s Life beginning at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.

Active pallbearers are: Vince Rupert, Scott King, Matt Rhodes, Cody Rohrer, Danny Willis, Marion Willis, Mike Willis, and Sam Rohrer. Honorary pallbearers are Alex Rhodes, Jamison Green, and Taylor Pope. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rusty’s name to: Niswonger Children’s Hospital, 400 N. State of Franklin Rd.
