Obituary for Richard Lee Baker Richard Lee Baker, 55, of Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Johnson City, he is the son to James and Ernestine Baker. Richard graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1985.

He then began working with General Shale Brick and has worked there for the past 31 years. He loved God, his family and his dogs and spending time with all of them. He enjoyed working in his yard, playing golf, and dancing.

Richard loved the beach most of all, and hoped to retire there. Richard is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Josie and Lefler Baker; maternal grandparents, James and Rowena Smith; and several aunts and uncles. In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include: wife of 10 years, Kyra; children, Colby Baker, Chance Baker (Emily), Kaylee Baker, Brittney Silver, and Courtney Smith (Michael); grandchildren, Maddisyn and Wyatt Smith; sister, Lisa Sisk (Wesley); and nieces Ashley Williams (Josh) and their children, Dylan, Roland, and Bodhi, Hayley Sisk (Britt Reece), and Alesha Sisk.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Teresa Lord and nurse, Bree with the Regional Cancer Center, and Dr. Nathaniel Lee and his staff. A special thanks would also like to be extended to Richard’s General Shale family of coworkers. The family will gather to receive friends on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 4:00 PM until a celebration of Richard’s life beginning at 6:00 PM at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City.
