Eldon Holland, 96, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the VA Medical Center. Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, Friday, July 13, 2018 at Myers & Smith Chapel with Mike Seay, pastor of Midway Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.

Eldon was born on February 6, 1922 in Mangum, Oklahoma to Kate Hassell Holland and Waymond Holland. He married Bobbie Vaughan on June 28, 1947 in Clarendon, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Army… Read More » Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific and flew 49 missions as a gunner.

He and his wife moved to Howard County over 50 years ago. He was an electrician at the V.A.M.C.

He loved fishing. Eldon was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Eldon is survived by his wife Bobbie Holland of Big Spring; two daughters: Jean Bather of Independence, MO and Mavis Morton (Jeff) of Big Spring; one brother: Buford Holland (Geraldine) of Hedley; one sister: Clifty Johnson (Mike) of Clarendon; six grandchildren: Charlene Bather and Bill Bather, both of Independence, MO; Shawnte Clawson (Michael) of Tulia, Cadet Bryant of Marfa, Misty DeLeon (Johnny) of Big Spring and Tommy Morton (Amy) of Lubbock; 11 great grandchildren: Heston Henry (Emily), Holland Henry and Chambre Clawson, Lauren Smith (Kyle), Brooke Marshall, Blake Marshall, Daniella DeLeon, Kaleb Stripling, Ashton Morton, Joseph Weaver.

He also had many nieces and nephews that he loved and had fond memories of spending time with them during family holidays and vacations. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Calvin Holland. Pallbearers will be Jeff Morton, Cadet Bryant, Bill Bather, Michael Clawson, Heston Henry and Holland Henry.
