Obituary for Elgan Turner Elgan Turner, 92 of Evansville, died Saturday, September 22, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born May 28, 1926, in Drakesboro, KY to Maggie Lee and William Turner. Elgan served in the U.S. Navy during War War II where he received the Victory Medal and the American Area Campaign Medal.

Elgan was on the first honor flight out of Evansville and was a member of the Eugene Pate Post number 265. He worked at Hoosier Cardinal until they closed in 1957 and retired after 25 years at Cummins Diesel in 1991. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Elgan was an active member at Saint Theresa Catholic Church where he helped prepare dinners for the socials and assisted at bingo and Marion Day School for over 30 years. He is a current member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Elgan is survived by his wife, Betsy (Campbell) Turner; daughters, Sheila Jackson, Becky Marshall, and Jeannie Turner; sons, Michael Turner and William Turner; step-daughter, Linda (Ralph) Newman; grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Boyd, Ron (Abby) Belwood, Tina Marshall, April (Brad) Montooth, Matthew Hardin, Damien (Bryttanie) Jackson, Beth (Kip) Diekmann and James (Carrie) Newman; several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edna Turner; daughters, Lucinda Belwood and Debbie Turner. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel 800 S. Hebron, Evansville, IN 47714. Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with Father Ted Tempel officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, where the American Legion Post 44, Newburgh, will conduct military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to Evansville ARC, P.O. Box 4089, Evansville, IN 47724. Condolences may be made online at www.
