Obituary for Mrs. Elvira R. (Trevisani) Marotta WHITESBORO – Mrs. Elvira R. (Trevisani) Marotta, age 92, went home to the Lord and to her beloved Joe as she passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018. Born in Utica on May 6, 1926, Elvira was the daughter of the late Thomas and Angelina (Filomena) Trevisani. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1944 and enjoyed many years of class reunions.
On October 7, 1950 she married Angelo J. “Joe” Marotta with whom she shared 61 years. She was devoted to Joe and has missed him since his passing on October 31, 2011. Elvira was employed by Utica Radiator in the Bookkeeping Department.
She also held a position at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in the Communication Department for over 15 years; during her retirement years, she returned to volunteer. She took pride and pleasure in her job as homemaker, including tailoring her own clothing for many years. She enjoyed playing Bridge with friends, traveling, and taking cruises with her husband Joe.
She thoroughly enjoyed the sport of bowling which kept her active and was a member of the Gems Ladies League at Pin-O-Rama and the Senior League for over 30 years. She was also a 30-year member of the Progressive Ladies Golf League. Family was paramount to Elvira; her home was adorned with “family articles” which expressed her love and admiration for her loved ones.
She will be remembered as the family story teller filled with details of years past. She practiced her Catholic faith as a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish.
Elvira is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Gino and Arlene Trevisani of Waterville; her nieces, especially acknowledging Joanne Donaruma Wade who was also her godchild; her nephew, the late Joseph Trevisani; niece, Laura Ann Trevisani Wittenbeck; great-nieces, great-nephews, especially Chad Trevisani; cousins, and in-laws, Manuele Trevisani, Anna Trevisani, and Rose Mary Trevisani. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law, Joseph “Butch” and Mary Ann Trevisani, Edmund T. “Eddie” Trevisani Sr., Frank Trevisani, and Pasquale Trevisani; her sisters and brother-in-law, Florence Trevisani, and Nancy and Joe Cittadino; and members of the Marotta family. The family extends their sincerest appreciation to the wonderful staff of the Abraham House for the compassionate care provided to Elvira during her final journey.
Thanks also to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care who in their own wisdom and kindness comforted Elvira, for which the family will remain truly grateful. The family will honor and commemorate Elvira’s life at a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Tuesday morning at 11:00 at St. Mary of Mt.
