Obituary of Emily Taylor Emily Sparrow Taylor, 82, of Pocomoke City, died peacefully on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Hartley Hall Nursing Home. Born on June 22, 1936 she was a daughter of the late Clifton and Virginia Ruark Sparrow. She graduated from Atlantic High School and worked as a secretary for several local businesses, including Hardester’s Insurance Co., Bi County Pharmacy in Gargatha, VA and Whispering Pines Hotel in Accomac, VA.

She was an active member and organist of the First Baptist Church of New Church, VA. Emily is survived by her son, William F. Taylor (Lynn) of Westover, MD; a cousin, who was like a brother Richard W. Mills (Annette) of Pocomoke City, MD; one granddaughter, Mackenzie Lynn Taylor; one grandson, Trevor Taylor; and one half sister, Ann Sparrow Williams of Eric, PA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dempsey William Taylor; one sister, Florence Insley and one brother, Clifton Arnold Sparrow, Jr. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the First Baptist Church Cemetery, 2240 Old Snow Hill Road, Pocomoke City, MD.

Pastor Freddie Ward and Pastor Bobby Parks will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Building Fund, c/o Doris Collins, 4261 Lankford Highway, New Church, VA 23415. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 107 Vine Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851.
