Obituary of Brenda Ward Brenda Denise Ward, 65, of Pocomoke City, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Coastal Hospice At The Lake at an courageous battle against cancer. Born on August 6, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Miles Thornton and Nelda Ferguson Thornton Stant of Cape Charles, VA. Brenda and her husband, Bill, started Bill’s Service Center in Pocomoke, where she handled all the accounting for years prior to turning those duties over to her daughter.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pocomoke City and attended regularly until her health declined. She loved Bingo at the Pocomoke Elks Lodge; enjoyed baking and arranging flowers for others. In addition to her mother, Nelda Stant of Cape Charles, VA she is survived by her husband William Alvin Ward, Sr. “Bill”; one daughter, Tammy Ward Paige (Bruce) of Marion Station, MD; one son, William Alvin Ward, Jr. “Billy” (Lacie) of Pocomoke City, MD; one step-daughter, Janet Marie Richardson (Scott) of Girdletree, MD and many extended family members.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Lee Ward and two brothers. A Memorial service will be held Friday, February 1 2019, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, 204 Fourth Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851, where family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service. Rev.

Wayne Ayer will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
