Obituary of Charles Stehl Charles Norman Stehl passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019, in Delmar MD surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born in Philadelphia, PA. , on February 17, 1937, the son of Catherine (Fisher) Stehl and Charles Edward Stehl.

The family moved to Delmar, DE in 1944. He graduated from Delmar High School in 1955. Charles was honorably discharged from the Delaware National Guard.

He was employed as airplane mechanic at All American Engineering in Georgetown, DE. He spent many years in the heating, air conditioning and ventilation business, both in installation and sales, employed by Louis West Plumbing and Heating, Automatic Equipment, R.E. Michel Company, TriCounty Gas, Chesapeake Utilities and Delmarva Refrigeration. Charles was a licensed commercial airplane pilot.

He built three planes, two of which were his own design. He flew these, along with other types of planes. He also received a license to fly his gyrocopter.

He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen organization. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary, He is also survived by his daughters: Cindy Blackburn of Purlear, NC, Christine Smith of Delmar DE, and Joy (Tim) Gietzel of Holt, MI. Also, his stepson Dan (Teresa) Niblett of Eden MD and stepdaughter Susan (Dudley) Katz of Centreville MD.

Grandchildren surviving include McKenzie Blackburn, Ashley Stehl, Sean Stehl, Nikkole Stehl, Kaylee Smith, Zachary Gietzel and, his namesake, Charles Gietzel. Step-grandchildren include: Kevin (Meghan) Niblett, Matthew Katz, Elizabeth Katz, Shawn Niblett and Jack Niblett. one great-grandson and three step-grandchildren also survive.

The family would like to thank the physicians and nurses at the Richard A. Henson Cancer Center at PRMC for their care and kindness. The family would also like to express its deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff of professionals and volunteers of Coastal Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Charles and his family during this time. Services with military honors will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 2 p.m., at Christ United Methodist Church in Salisbury.

Rev. Bill Green will officiate. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Coastal Hospice, P O Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home PA, 501 Snow Hill Rd. , Salisbury, MD 21804.
