Obituary for Emmitte E. Miller Emmitte E. Miller, 91 of York, PA, died at Autumn House East on June 18, 2018. Born August 26, 1926, he was the son of the late George H. and Edith C. (Smith) Miller. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific.
Emmitte was a self-employed musician and music teacher, teaching piano and organ in his home and at the Sam Keeney Piano and Organ Center. He performed with a group known as The Executives. Emmitte served as organist and choir director at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s (Wolf’s) United Church of Christ and, until his retirement in September 2016, Westminster Presbyterian Church.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, served as an officer in both York and Lancaster Music Teachers Associations and was a volunteer at the Strand Capitol. Emmitte was also an active member in Music Teachers National Association, Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association, National Pastoral Musicians, American Guild of Organists, American Theatre Organ Society and Susquehanna Valley Theatre Organ Society. Emmitte is survived by his sister, Audrey Smith of York and four nieces, Arla Neuberger of Spring, TX, Vicki McLane of Tarpon Springs, FL and Joan Weitzel and Julie Delle, both of York, PA.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2121 Roosevelt Ave. , York, PA 17408. A visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the memorial service.
A private burial will be held in Greenmount Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
