Obituary for Ervin “Jim” Williams Ervin I. “Jim” Williams, 95, of Pittsburg, passed away at 9:05 a.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018 in Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. Jim was born February 15, 1923 in Pittsburg to Lennie and Carrie (Harris) Williams. He married Mary Lou Peebles on July 29, 1943.
They recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. Jim was retired having been employed by United States Postal Service where he was post master of the Pittsburg Post Office. He also owned and operated with his father, the DX Service Station in Pittsburg.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country honorably during WWII. He enjoyed restoring cars and working his horses. He also loved to fish, hunt and train dogs.
His greatest accomplishment in his life was the legacy of his family. He enjoyed spending time and making memories with his family. Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Williams; daughter, Mary Jo (Jerry) Cutsinger of Pittsburg; nine grandchildren, Kevin (Heather) Williams of Marion, Jeff Williams of Murphysboro, Scott (MeLissa) Cutsinger of Pittsburg, Jason (Angie) Cutsinger of Thompsonville, Jodi (Greg) DeJarnett of Pittsburg, Brian Cutsinger of Thompsonville, Casey (Gabby) Cutsinger of Pittsburg, Ali Cutsinger of Pittsburg and Emily Huber of Pittsburg; Sixteen Great-Grandchildren, Erin (Josh) Rodgers, Brad (Mikaela) Cutsinger, Sarah and Lucas Allen, Kyle (Leslie) Cutsinger, Kody Cutsinger, Michael DeJarnett, Hannah and Colton Cutsinger, Ethan Simmons, Camden and Caiden Cutsinger, Bailey, Jake and Samantha Williams; Nine Great-Great Grandchildren, Kylee, Kynslee and Kelsee Rodgers, Liam Allen, Wyatt and Riley Cutsinger, Austin, Lucy and Lani Huber.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Edward Williams; sister, Juanita Clark and a infant brother, Vernon Williams. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2018 in Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Roger Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Number 8 Cemetery in Corinth.
Military honors will be conducted by the Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post. 147. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be the Veteran’s Honor Flight of Southern Illinois. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home. Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
