(97) of Southmont passed away October 3, 2018. Born October 24, 1920 daughter of James and Irene (Donahue) Blawn. Preceded in death by parents, husband Andrew Bagos who died in 1955, husband Alphonse who died in 1987, sisters Betty Bernadine and her husband Lawrence Romagnino and infant brother Lawrence, brothers James Blawn, Jr. , William, Russell, Robert and Ronald Blawn Ethel is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was a devoted mother of four daughters Carol Bagos and life partner Carol Jean Weissert, Palmyra, PA, Sally and husband David Hohman and Marguerite Bagos all of Johnstown, Teresa “Terrie” and husband Gregg DeSchepper, Everett, WA, special cousin Agnes Lopez who helped as her caregiver. Grandchildren David Hohman Jr., Stacey and husband Brian Madison, great-grandchildren Grace Marie and Ty David Hohman and Sydney Allyse Madison and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews. Special thanks to her neighbors Betty and Bob Snopko and Carol Leis for all their help over the years.

Ethel was born in Wehrum, PA, she graduated from Ebensburg Cambria High School in 1938 and graduated from Johnstown Vocational School in Nursing in 1960. She made her home in Johnstown where she was employed at Mercy hospital Obstetrics Department from where she retired in 1970 and later was a Secretary at West End Catholic School. Ethel was an advocate of Volunteerism and practiced it until 2015.

She was active throughout her life in Catholic War veterans Post 954 Auxiliary holding various offices. Also was with the St. Columba Mothers Club, St. Columba Lector and Eucharistic Minister and Parish Council, with the Lower Yoder Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, the Ladies Auxiliary of Volunteer Fireman’s Assoc. of Cambria County and St. Vincent DePaul Operation Touch.

She was a bowler for many years having participated in Monday Senior Mixed Bowling League serving as Secretary until 2001. Also with the Thursday Night Shamrock League where she served as Secretary from 2000-2002. She loved to swim and visit with family and friends.

Ethel is a member of Visitation Catholic church and was a longtime member of St. Columba Catholic Church. Family and friends will be received from 2-8 PM Friday at Moskal-Reid funeral home and are invited to attend her Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life at 11 AM Saturday at St. Francis Catholic Church, the Franciscan Friars OFM Celebrant, Committal Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
