Obituary for EUNICE LAMERE (Milroy) Eunice M. LaMere, 98, longtime Palmer resident, entered eternal life on Tuesday morning, October 16, 2018 at Mill Creek Assisted Living in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice. Eunice was born September 21, 1920 in Negaunee to John and Ada (Quayle) Milroy, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1937, earned her business degree from Davenport College of Grand Rapids in 1938, and was a lifelong area resident. She married the late Robert P. LaMere on September 21, 1940 and together they raised their seven children in Palmer.

Eunice was a loving and devoted homemaker who cherished time spent with her family. Mrs. LaMere was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Palmer where she was active in the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Richmond Township Fire Department Auxiliary.

She was an avid bowler and most enjoyed summers spent in Palmer and at the cottage on Bass Lake. Eunice and Robert also enjoyed wintering in Zephyrhills, Florida. Surviving are five daughters: Georgene (Harry) Taylor of Zephyrhills, FL, Judy LaMere and Lyndall (Daniel) Tonkin, both of Zephyrhills, FL, Suzanne Barabe and Ann Turino, both of Negaunee; her son, Herbert (Lori Kurian) LaMere of Negaunee; sister, Mary Marshall of Negaunee; brother-in-law, Herbert LaMere of Marquette; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 2004; son, David ‘Trapper’ LaMere in 2011; grandson, Shawn Collins in 1980; brother, John Milroy in 2003; and sons-in-law, Michael Turino in 2012 and Robert Barabe in 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Friday, October 19th at St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating.

Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Friday, and also at a luncheon in the St. Paul Gymnasium immediately following. Eunice’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
