Obituary for Evelyn Meade (Dunn) Evelyn Gail Meade, 95, of Marion, passed away at 5:20 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 2018 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Evelyn was born January 15, 1923 near Goreville in Johnson County to Walter and Harriet (Tucker) Dunn. She met the love of her life Lennis Meade, Sr. while while working together at the Pepsi Bottling Plant.

They married later that year on November 10, 1944 in Marion. Lennis preceded her death on September 24, 1991. Evelyn was a homemaker and a full time mother to her five children.

She loved to garden and can the fruits and vegetables that were raised each year. She also enjoyed sewing and would sew her children’s clothing and quilts for the family. Later in years she enjoyed word puzzles.

Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family. Evelyn is survived by three daughters, Alice Faye Campbell of Marion, Betty Marie Meade of Hurst and Rebecca Christine Anderson of Marion; one son, Lennis (Charlotte) Meade, Jr. of Carterville; son-in-law, George Roper of Johnston City; brother, Terry Dean “Joe” Dunn of Goreville; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Ethel Rae Roper; son-in-law, Hal Campbell; one granddaughter, Christie Meade; one grandson, Michael Anderson; one-great grandson, John Webster and ten siblings. Graveside services will be 12:00 Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Busby Chapel Cemetery in Goreville with Rev. David Nolen officiating.
