Obituary for Faye Elizabeth Akens Faye Elizabeth Akens, age 92, of Sweetwater went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at her home. She was born and raised in Meigs County, TN and has been a resident of Sweetwater, TN since 1960. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a hard working farmer’s wife for many years. She was a faithful member of Murray’s Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Lester Akens; son: Doyal Akens; daughter: Susie Akens; stepsons: J.B. and Gene Akens parents: John and Sara Lankford; brothers: Kenneth, Johnny, Ralph and Garland Lankford; sisters: Iva Porter and Polly Lankford Survivors include a very special grandson who has taken care of her for several years: Brian Akens; a very special LPN/Caregiver who has been her caregiver for the past 4 years: Theresa Ratledge; a very special ex-daughter-in-law: Sandy Massey; son: Kenneth Akens (Sweetwater); step-son: Tommy Akens and wife Jane Akens (Sweetwater); three other grandsons: Dustin Akens (Sweetwater), Tony and Mark Akens (Illinois); seven granddaughters: Angie Akens (Niota), Paige Edwards, Christi Moser, Julie Hyde , Leanne Starnes (all of Sweetwater), Irene Higginbotham (Florida) and Wendy Akens (Illinois).
She had several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; some very special friends and family: Joyce Cranfield, Craig and Whitney Ratledge, Rodney Cranfield, Jake and Jessica Cranfield, Chris and Bethanie Rose, Ken and Janetta Newman and Ronnie and Faye Sneed. Pallbearers will include: Brian Akens, Craig Ratledge, Dustin Akens, Angie Akens, Jake Cranfield and Chris Rose. The family will receive friends at Kyker Funeral Homes on Monday, September 10, 2018, from 5P.M. until 7P.M. The funeral service will be held at Murray’s Baptist Church in Sweetwater on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 2P.M. with Rev.
Jeremy Sneed officiating. A graveside service will follow the funeral in the church cemetery. Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater is in charge of arrangements.
