Felipe Gonzalez, age 60, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 8:46 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at St. Vincent – Evansville. Felipe was born September 19, 1957, in General Zuazua, NL, Mexico, to Felipe Gonzalez Narvaez and Maria de los Angeles Hernandez. He grew up and was educated in Mexico and then emigrated to the United States in the fall of 1990 to assist his brother Jose Luis and wife, Dora, with their new restaurant, Cerro de la Silla, on S. Green St. in Henderson, Ky where he met his life partner, Michael Tyree.

Felipe was a very gifted and talented person. Besides his brother’s restaurant, Felipe worked at Canton Inn in Evansville as well as Foley’s, Dillard’s and JC Penney in metro Houston, Texas, and Famous Barr in Evansville. He also worked for Tyson Foods.

He became a U.S. citizen and was proud of being an American. He attended St. Anthony Church, St Ananais Orthodox Church, and recently was visiting Iglesia del Refugio all here in Evansville. Felipe is survived by his partner of 28 years, Michael J. Tyree of Evansville, brothers Jose Ernesto of Houston, TX, Jesus Wenceslao of Owensboro, Jose Luis of Mexico, Miguel Angel of Gainesville, GA, Juan Antonio of Owensboro, Carlos Manuel of Mexico, Hector of Mexico and Fabian Eduardo of Ada, OK.

Felipe is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Felipe Gonzalez Narvaez and Maria de los Angeles Hernandez, both of General Zuazua, Mexico; the aunt who raised him from a young age to adulthood, Mrs. Lili Saenz Rodriguez of Monterrey. They are all awaiting him in heaven. Services are pending.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray the funeral expenses.
