Florian Jerome “Coon” Thomala, Jr. January 15, 1930 – January 22, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Florian Jerome (Coon) Thomala, Jr Mr. Thomala, a.k.a Coon – his lifelong nickname, made his home in New Orleans, La. where he attended Jesuit High School, after which he moved to Houma, La.

; then moving to Castor, La. where he retired. Coon is a former oil field employee of South Louisiana oil fields and a retired chief engineer of offshore supply boats.

Some of his places of employment were Bay Drilling Co., Loffland Bros. , Delta Mud Offshore, Gulf International, and United Marine Service. He is a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a choir member of St. Lucy Catholic Church in Jonesboro, La.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arabella (Chickie) Thomala, together known as Coon and Chickie, and his six children: Roxanne Steed and her husband Scott Gilbreath, Jeannine Lapeyrouse and her husband Lenward, Michael Thomala and his wife Eunjin, Charmaine Sellers and her husband Stanley, Monique Bourg and her husband Donnie, and Monette Reardon and her husband Ken. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Coon is preceded in death by his father, Florian J. Thomala, Sr. and his mother, Maud Chauvin Thomala.
