She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Jean Oravec of Houston, Texas, Betsy Filhaber of Santa Ana, California and Barbara Scott of Houston, Texas; son Alan Oravec and wife Sandy of Delmont, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Christina Smith and husband Reuben of North Huntington, Pennsylvania, Laura Sylvia and husband Dave of Apollo, Pennsylvania, Ryan Filhaber of Huntington Beach, California, Kelly Scott of Long Beach, California and Robin Filhaber of Long Beach, California; great-grandchildren Trevor Plotnik of Huntington Beach, California; sister Doris Wheeler of Middlefield, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. Prior to her retirement Flo was employed by Sears and Roebuck Company as a catalog manager for 26 years at Penn Center, Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Prior to living in Houston she lived in Plantation, Florida for ten years.

Flo enjoyed playing card games with her grandkids (Old Maid’s, Gold Fish, Crazy 8’s, Skip-Bo and most of all Phase 10). She was always a winner at Bingo, Bunko and Yahtzee. In addition, Flo enjoyed bowling with her friends and was on a local bowling league.

She loved all types of music and loved to dance. Flo was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She was also a member of the SEAS Senior Citizen Club where she met many of her friends.

Even though Flo was not Italian, she was invited to become a member of the West Houston Italian Club. Flo loved to travel with her family and friends. Whether it was a road trip with her family visiting relatives in Florida, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio or traveling to Hawaii with her husband and a group of friends, she always had fun.

She enjoyed the monthly bus trips with the SEAS Senior Citizen Club, taking a cruise to Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel with her friends at the Italian Club. Flo especially looked forward to going to Southern California to visit her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchild and also her son and his family in Pittsburgh. We will remember Flo for her delicious home cooked dinner.

You never left the table hungry when Flo was cooking, especially when she made homemade beef vegetable soup, stuffed cabbage or her green bean casserole; which was always made to perfection. We are all still wondering what her secret was in making homemade potato salad and devil eggs. Flo also loved to bake.

Her kitchen always had a wonderful aroma of homemade chocolate chip cookies, pineapple upside down cake, banana nut bread and her awesome nut rolls. Flo made a house a home; very warm and inviting to everyone. She always had a positive attitude and was always there for you – no matter what.

She was a very social person who everyone loved. Flo enjoyed her happy hour and had a great sense of humor along with her outgoing spirit. Flo was a great role model for her family and she will be truly missed by everyone.
