Obituary for Floyd Somerville Floyd Somerville, age 77, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Terrell Somerville officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 2-7pm and again on Sunday from 10am until the hour of service at 2pm. Mr. Somerville was born November 3, 1940 in Cross Plains to the late Clarence and Lenna Baldridge Somerville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, worked as a crane operator and was a member of the Freedom Church in Gallatin.

Mr. Somerville always had a heart for missions. Up until the end of his life he gave to charities such as the Christian Appalachian Mountain Project, the Nashville Rescue Mission, HOPE Charities, the Shriners Children’s Hospital, Wounded Warriors and others as he was able. In addition to his parents Mr. Somerville is preceded in death by his twin brother, Lloyd Somerville and his brother, Harold Somerville.

Mr. Somerville is survived by his wife, Geneva Bryant Somerville; son, Lanny Troy (Laura) Somerville of Chester, SC; daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Groves of Bethpage; brothers, John Somerville and Blonnie (Mary Edna) Somerville, both of Cross Plains; sisters, Clariss Stewart of Murfreesboro and Edith Camp of Sparta; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Any donations may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell.
