Frances Coggins Leake January 18, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Frances Coggins Leake, 81, of Roanoke Rapids, died January 18, 2019 in her home. Frances was born in Northampton County on December 11, 1932, a daughter of Jimmie Ernest Coggins and Stella Casper Coggins. She retired from JP Stevens, where she worked as a loom fixer, among other jobs.

She enjoyed tending the flowers in her yard, gardening and also puzzles and crosswords. Widowed as a young woman, Frances was tough and hard-working, and she loved her family dearly. She was a member of Creeksville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Clifton Wayne and Dwight Payne Leake; daughter, Linda Leake Patrick; grandchildren, Billy Patrick II, Leanne Patrick; great-granddaughter, Madalynn Patrick; brother, Ernest Coggins; and sisters, Sylvia Floros, Grace Ormond and Marjorie Kleis. In addition to her her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Franklin Leake; sister Catherine “Sis” Coggins, and two infant sisters. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 am Wednesday at Hockaday Funeral Service and Cremation.

A graveside service will then be held at 11:00 am at Cedarwood Cemetery, with Pastor Wayne White presiding. Online condolences may be sent to hockadayfs.com. Memorials may be sent to Home Health and Hospice, which the family wishes to give special thanks to for the care they gave to Frances.
