Frances E. Friend, 92, of Friendsville, MD, passed away, Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, MD. Born November 12, 1926, in Friendsville, she was the daughter of the late Playford Friend and Susan M. (Lowdermilk) Friend Paugh. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Fike and Ross F. Fike; seven sisters, Grace Friend, Betty “Jean” (Friend) Kell, Amy (Friend) Glover, Nina (Friend) Drummer, Helen (Friend) Holtz, Ila (Friend) Stout and Bernice (Friend) Chris; two brothers, Martin DeLone “Dee” Friend and Playford “Sonny” Friend; two sons-in-law, Spencer A. Reckart and Ronald H. Gribble; and one granddaughter, Shawn Gribble.

Ms. Friend was retired from the Garrett Co. Board of Education and she also worked for Deer Park Water and the FBI in Oakland, MD. She was a member of the Sand Spring Church of God, American Legion Auxiliary and a past council member for the Town of Friendsville. She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Fike) Reckart, Bruceton Mills, WV; Patricia “Elaine” (Fike) Gribble, Somerset, PA; two sons, Gene Fike and wife, Sherry and Jerry C. Fike, all of Friendsville; one sister, Sarah “Arlene” (Friend) Fazenbaker, Uniontown, PA; one brother, Shirl “Ed” Friend and wife, Chris, Neptune, NJ; she was blessed with 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave. , Friendsville, on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, November 26, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dana Umbel officiating.
