Frances Madeline Gilbert, 77, of Martinsville, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019, at SOVAH Health of Martinsville. She was born July 6, 1941, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Wade and Hattie Clark Gilbert. She was very athletic and played softball and basketball.

She umpired when she could not play ball anymore. She had worked at Fieldcrest Mills. Services will be Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 2:00 P. M. at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She is survived by many loved cousins and friends. Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
