Obituary for Fred Sanders Fred David Sanders – Kingsport, TN Fred David Sanders, 66, Kingsport, TN passed away, Friday, April 27, 2018 at Indian Path Medical Center after a brief illness. Fred was born in Scott County, VA on February 14, 1952 and was the son of the late Cleo and Venus (Pierson) Sanders. He was a Christian and of Baptist faith.
He graduated from Twin Springs High School in 1970. He attended Berea College. He worked at Kingsport Press until it closed.
He worked at Kingsport Library as a security guard until February 2018 when his health failed. In addition to his parents, his niece, Sherry Sanders; sister-in-law, Verna Sanders; and brother-in-law, Charles Lee preceded him in death. Surviving are his sisters; Geraldine (Jade) Lee, Kingsport, TN, Betty (Tom) Graham, Morgantown, West Virginia, Mima “Bug” (Otis “Badge”) Lawson, Gate City, VA, Ina (Paul) Owens, Kingsport, TN, and Reba (Gary) Turbyfill, Kingsport, TN; brothers, Troy Sanders, Ft.
Blackmore, VA, Mack (Mary) Sanders, Gate City, VA, and Russell (Bobbie) Sanders, Ft. Blackmore, VA; aunts, Sarah Bell Sanders, Gate City, VA, and Margie Sanders, Weber City, VA; uncle, Clyde Pierson, North Carolina; along with several nieces and nephews and host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Sanders and Bro. Rick Vannoy officiating.
Ralph and Shelby Roberts will provide the music. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Sanders/Stewart Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. to go in procession to graveside services. An online guest register is available for the Sanders family at www.
