Obituary for Frederick D. Haight Frederick D. Haight passed away peacefully on January 8. 2019. Born in Beacon on July 20, 1937, he was the son of William P. and Frances (Livingston) Haight.
On June 10, 1961 he married Barbara Turco at St. Joachim Church in Beacon. He was a member of NYSP serving in Troop K as a trooper and as a BCI Investigator. He retired after 20 years of service.
He then worked for a school bus company, George M. Carroll Inc. in Newburgh as the Vice President/General Manager. He retired due to health problems in 1997. He was a United States Marine and he was a member of the Tri-State Chapter of Retired Troopers and NYSP PBA.
Fred enjoyed dining out and eating in when his wife cooked his favorite meals. He always had a dog by his side and was jokingly called the “dog whisperer”. His most recent K-9 companion is Guinness who misses Fred very much.
Fred was an avid NY Met and NY Giant fan. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 57 years; his sister, Virginia Siless of Poughkeepsie; his sons, Jeffrey Haight (Ericalee) of Mohegan Lake, Ronald Haight (Marianne) of Wallkill and Eric Haight of Fishkill; his daughter, Stacey Haight (and her fiancé, Scott) of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Amanda, Hudson, Victoria, Christopher, Michael and Miranda. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, William, David and Donald Haight and his sisters, Dorothy Lunn and Donna Haight.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, January 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to NYS Troopers PBA Signal 30 Benefit Fund at 120 State Street, Albany, New York 12207.
