Obituary for Frederick “Fred” James Braun Frederick James “Fred” Braun, 60, of Wapakoneta, died 7:43 p.m., Tues. April 3, 2018, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born April 24, 1957, in Lima, OH, the son of Ivan & Bertha (Hemmert) Braun, who preceded him in death.

On Nov. 15, 1975, he married Nina J. Schweitzer, and she survives. Other survivors include, 3 children, Jamie (Joe) Clark, Grove City, OH, Mindy Braun, Shawnee Twp.

, OH, Tara (Brian) Hammer, Waterville, OH, 4 grandchildren, Westyn, Bryce, Owen, & Dexter, 2 brothers, Dave (Glenda) Braun, Winnebago, MO, Herb (Amalia) Braun, Anchorage, AK, a sister, Mary (Rob) Wittmer, Batesville, IN. brother-in-law & sisters-in-law, Donald (Marta) Schweitzer, & Vickie Schweitzer. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Trina Braun, mother-in-law & father-in-law, Edgar & Wilma Schweitzer, and a brother-in-law, Ronald Schweitzer.

Fred retired as an engineer in 2014 from Honda of America, after 30 years service. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and Brands Lake Fishing Club, both of Wapakoneta. Fred had served as a member and president of the Wapakoneta City Schools Board of Education, and previously served on the St. Joseph Catholic School Board of Education.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, wintering in Florida, fishing, fly fishing, metal detecting, pickleball, and playing cards. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m., Sat. April 7, 2018, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, Fr.

Sean Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m., Fri.

& 12-1 p.m., Sat. at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
