Garry Buddy Grant 80 of Crowder Ridge Road, Shelby passed away Friday, April 20, 2018, at Hospice of Rutherford County. Born July 27, 1937 in Yancey County, he was a son of the late Jack Grant and Irene Hensley Grant. Mr. Grant retired from Sara Lee and was a member of Gantt’s Grove Baptist Church.

He served in the US Army, in the 101st Airborne. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Faye Tallent Grant; three daughters, Dana Gettys and husband, Calvin of Shelby, Sheree Cook… Read More » and husband, Kenny of Adrian, Missouri and Lori Ruppe and husband, Gary of Spartanburg; four brothers, Seable Grant and wife, Ruth of Forest City, Jimmy Moore and wife, Anna of Virginia and Kevin Moore and wife, Jovee of Wadsworth, Ill and Charlie Moore and wife, Connie of Zion, Ill. ; two sisters, Rebecca White and husband, Paul of Mooresboro and Paula Moore of Georgia; nine grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at Gantt’s Grove Baptist Church. A memorial service will be 3:00 PM, Thursday at Gantt’s Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Lane officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
