Gene Shade, age 75, of Lake Odessa passed away on May 14, 2018 at the Laurels of Kent after fighting a long battle with dementia. Gene was born on March 28, 1943 in Lake Odessa to Wayne and Mildred (Haynes) Shade. Gene liked to hunt, fish, cut wood and have campfires with friends and family.

He was a hard-working man that took good care of his family. Gene will be dearly missed by; wife Trudy; children Andrew (Stephanie) Shade, Eric (Annette) Shade, grandchildren Evan and Olivia Shade, siblings; Sherrie (Tom) Wacha, Marcelene Sisler, Dean (Shirley) Shade, in-laws; Pearl Shade-Wagner, Bobbie Shade, Jerry Stalter, Peg (Reg) Dunnigan, Jane (Les) Raymond, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friend Ray Cross. Preceding Gene in death are; his parents; grand daughter Jordan Shade; daughter in law Terri Shade; sisters Frances Johnston, Letha Reese, Karolyn Stalter, Linda Stidham, brothers; Bob Hill, Brandon Shade, Marvin Shade.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place and the family will have a gathering later this summer to celebrate his life. Memorials are suggested to the activity fund at Laurels of Kent, Great Lakes Caring Hospice or McKenzie’s Animal Shelter. Online condolences can be left at www.
