George B. Lomasney, 79 of Grand Island died Thursday, January 24, 2019 with his loving family by his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church. Reverend Don Buhrman will be the celebrant.

Cremation will take place following the service with burial of ashes in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday with a Parish Wake Service at the church. Honor guard will be presented by the 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.

All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. George was born June 6, 1939 at Dorchester, Massachusetts the son of George and Rose (Fournier) Lomasney. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Everette, Massachusetts, Holy Trinity High School in Westfield, New Jersey before moving to Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School.

On September 27, 1975 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Becker. This union was blessed with three children, Paul, Chris and Samantha. George was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was a founder of the Knights of Columbus Christmas Feed which has been serving for the past 30 years. He was a huge fan of stock-car racing. His greatest joy was his family.

Those left to always cherish his memory are his children, Paul (Angie Meister) Lomasney of Grand Island, Chris (Jena) Lomasney of Arizona and Samantha (Josh Lambertus) Lomasney of Grand Island; grandchildren, Bree, Kelsi, Zachary, Kobe, Tylan, Kaleb and Shaylee and a sister, April Rane. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Mother” and great-grandson, Ruxten and River. Memorials are suggested to the Knights of Columbus Christmas Feed.
