Obituary for Thomas ” Tom” D Nehls Thomas “Tom” D. Nehls Sr., 53, of Grand Island passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Bryan East in Lincoln. To honor Tom’s wishes cremation was chosen, private family services are pending. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Tom was born on November 24, 1965 at Grand Island, son of Leland and Virginia (Murphy) Nehls. He grew up in Grand Island and attended Northwest High School before joining the circus at age 16. Tom was a tinkerer and mechanic.

He drove semi-trucks for many years, hauling anything from pigs to furniture. Tom never had a bad word to say about anyone, and always looked on the bright side. Tom was a beloved Papa; his family meant the world to him and he cherished all of the memories made.

He is survived by the love of his life and mother of his children, Cynthia McCarthy; daughter, Keisha (Patrick) O’Neill of Grand Island; son, J.T. (Kayla) Nehls of Grand Island; grandchildren, Jerome, Sasha, Damion, Caine, Abel, Thomas, Elias; his mother, Virginia; brothers, Kenneth Todd Nehls and Troy Nehls sister, Tammy Beers; along with numerous extended family and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his father, and daughter, Jessica Rose Nehls. Condolences may be left for Tom’s family at www.
