Obituary for George R. Atkinson George R. Atkinson, 89, of Beloit, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 10, 1929 in Center Township, Rock County, WI, the son of Roscoe J. and Susie B. (Williams) Atkinson. George was a 1945 graduate of Janesville High School, Janesville, WI.

He married Ruth Johnson on April 20, 1963 in Rockford, IL. George was a life long farmer in Rock County, WI. He had a passion for politics and was the former chair of the Rock County Republican Party.

George enjoyed Wednesday gatherings at the Last Lap and watching all sports. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and New England Patriots fan. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Atkinson of Beloit, WI; sisters, Alice Bayly of New York and Helen (Ray) Johnson of Minnesota; step daughter, Debra (Jim) Jablonski of Dousman, WI; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother William Atkinson, sister Mary Sanford, brother-in-law Tom Bayly, sister-in-law Donna Atkinson and brother-in-law Bill Sanford. Funeral services for George will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Jack Way officiating. Burial will be in Luther Valley Cemetery.

Visitation of remembrance will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home. The family would like to thank all the staff at Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Center, as well as Beloit Regional Hospice, Pastor Jack Way, Luther Valley Church, Mike Hulburt, John Lader and special friends, Rob and Bill.
