Obituary for Gerald A. Solarski Sr. Print Gerald A. Solarski Sr. (“Jerry”), 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 6, 2018 at Samaritan Hospice with his loving family by his side. Born in Trenton he was a long-time resident of Bordentown. Jerry enlisted in the United States Army in 1963, after being honorably discharged from the Army where he then continued to serve in the military by enlisting in the United States Navy Reserve; retiring after 15 years of dedicated service.
He was the owner of J&S Automotive and Lawn Mower Repairs for over 40 years. He sold the business in 2007. For the past 30 years, Jerry was employed as a bus driver for the Northern Burlington County Regional School District.
Jerry enjoyed traveling, attending community concerts, spending time at the library and working out at the YMCA. But his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and good friends. Son of the late William Sr. and Violet Solarski, he is predeceased by his brothers, William, Donald, Theodore, Edward Solarski, and his brother-in-law, John Bogdan.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and he will be missed by many. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Shirley A. Solarski (Bogdan), his loving children, Gerald A. Solarski, Jr. (Pamela Ewashko), Sharon A. Solarski-Pagodin (Ryan Pagodin) his grandchildren, Andrew R. Solarski, Jason R. Pagodin, his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Bogdan (Mary Ann), Susan Bogdan and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice Development Office 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300 Marlton, NJ 08053.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Mary Church 45 Crosswicks St. Bordentown NJ 08505. Calling hours will be held Friday morning from 9:30~10:30am at the Bordentown Home for Funerals 40 Crosswicks St. Bordentown, NJ 08505. Arrangements are under the direct care and supervision of Robert L. Pecht, Bordentown Home for Funerals, 40 Crosswicks St. Bordentown, NJ 08505.
