Obituary for Mrs. Geraldine R. (Mercadante) Martino Pennsylvania – Mrs. Geraldine R. (Mercadante) Martino, age 82, passed away on her birthday, Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Born in Utica on September 11, 1936, Geraldine was the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Nellie A. (Perrone) Mercadante. She was raised and educated locally.

On December 19, 1953 she wed Michael George “Mickey” Martino with whom she shared 44 years in a loving marriage until his passing on April 6, 1998. Geraldine devoted her life to caring for her husband, children, and home. An excellent cook, she prepared culturally diverse meals including Italian, Lebanese, and Hispanic.

Not one to be shy in stating her opinions, she always enjoyed a good debate. She was very creative in crocheting, sewing, and ceramics, and she will be remembered for her generosity in gifting many of her handmade items to friends and loved ones. Geraldine was very giving to the cause of the Shriners because of her love of children.

She was spiritually uplifted when she listened to Mother Angelica and Padre Pio on the Eternal World Television Network. Geraldine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michele and John Bishop of Xenia, Ohio; her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael J. and Debra Martino, and Joseph M. and Kimberly Martino, all of Patterson Township, Pennsylvania; Gerald S. and Darlene Martino of Midland, PA, and Bennie B. and Mercedes Martino of Brighton Township, PA; her grandchildren, Michael A. Martino; Lindsay N. Martino; Gerald S. Martino II, Jennifer M. Martino; and Christopher Martino; and her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Teri Mercadante of Verona Beach. She also leaves her niece, Darlene Janucik; many cousins; and friends Harold and Dolly Bash.

She was predeceased by her nephew, Charles Janucik. In keeping with Geraldine’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral arrangements.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Geraldine’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday morning at 9:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta.

Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mrs. Geraldine R.
