Obituary for Mrs. Joanne M. (Ingalls) Bick-Barter SAUQUOIT – Mrs. Joanne M. (Ingalls) Bick-Barter, age 81, entered into eternal rest on October 14, 2018, at the Sitrin HCC Sycamore House. Joanne was born on May 17, 1937 in Norwich, NY, the daughter of the late Leon L. and Virginia (Bombace) Ingalls. She was a graduate of U.F.A./Class of 1955.

On May 18, 1957 in St. Joseph’s Church she married Edward John Bick, retired UFD and had a blessed union until his passing on May 9, 1988. Some years later, while on vacation in Austria with her family, Joanne met Bertram Barter from England. They were married on January 1, 1994.

Joanne had many talents, but her most favorite was singing. At the age of 16 Joanne joined the Parish choir of St. Joseph’s Church, making her the youngest member. She was a soloist for the choir and sang for church Holy Days and for many funerals and weddings.

She was also involved in the Faith Formation Programs at St. Joseph and St. Patrick, and Our Lady of the Rosary Churches. Joanne worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield for a time, then became a caregiver for many years. Joanne is survived by her husband Bert, two daughters and sons-in-law, Greta and Jerry Newell of Forestport, Eileen and Stephen Linkiewicz of New Hartford; and a son, Brother Edward-John Bick, topsf, of Inlet.

She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Tony and his wife Kelly Newell, Ty Newell; and Rebecca, and Erin Linkiewicz; and her great-grandchildren, Maddison, Tanner, and Dakota Newell. She will also be remembered by her sister Jessie Fiorini; sisters-in-law, Marie Hammersmith, and Jean Ingalls; and uncle Larry Boak. She also leaves her step-son and his wife, Christopher and Deborah Barter of England; step-grandchildren Bradley and Craig Barter; sister-in-law Marguerite Noyce; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Joanne was predeceased by her brother Leon Ingalls, Jr. The family would like to thank the Sitrin HCC Sycamore House staff for the care given to their wife and mother these past three years. Joanne’s visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10:00-11:00 at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church, 702 Columbia St. Her funeral service will follow at 11:15 in church offered by Rev. Richard Dellos.

Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial donations may be made to Mother Marianne’s Westside Kitchen; envelopes will be available at the service.
