Gerald Walter Hartman passed away March 8, 2019, at St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Louis Walter and Helen Ione Lancaster Hartman. He married his “High School Sweet Heart” Linda Diane Hatting in Sioux City, Iowa on February 24, 1968.

They recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. He grew up in Sioux City, IA and graduated from East High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War.

He served on the USS Oriskany and the USS Hancock. Following his military service, he moved to Brigham City, Utah where he and Linda raised their family. Gerald retired from Thiokol after 30 years where worked as a Manufacturing Engineer.

He was a member of the Catholic Faith and attended St. Henry’s Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed traveling the world, cruising and was an avid reader.

He loved BBQ and was always on the search for the ultimate hamburger or pulled pork sandwich. He is survived by his wife, Linda; children: Angela Diane Morgan (Kevin), Misty Lee Hartman, Brandi Marie Lewis (Stephen); 4 grandchildren: Hunter Walter Morgan, Whitney Morgan, Alithea Lewis and Savannah Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, 380 South 200 East, Brigham City, UT. A Rosary Service will be held Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, UT followed by viewing from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers; please donate to your choice of Cancer Research!
