Arveta Lambert Avant passed away March 10, 2019 at the age of 89. She was our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a devout Christian who loved spending time praying and reading her Bible.

Arveta attended Alpine Church in Layton, Utah where she had a ministry of her own greeting others with Christian love. All who knew her felt God’s peace radiate through her. Arveta was born October 13, 1929 in Georgetown, South Carolina to Jerry and Carrie Miller Lambert.

She married Mack Franklin Avant on June 26, 1952 and enjoyed 34 years of marriage. They were blessed with two children Cheryl Cummins and Karl Avant. In 1967, the family moved to Redwood Mississippi where she lived for 47 years.

She was actively involved in Redwood United Methodist Church, bowled in a Senior Bowling League and served as Assistant Director at the Vicksburg Senior Center for 11 years. In 2014 she moved to Utah to be closer to family. Arveta loved spending time with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She loved being outside enjoying the beautiful mountains of Utah. She is survived by her Children: Karl Avant (Martha) and Cheryl Cummins, her two granddaughters Keri Beth Mathias (John) and Jana Avant Burton (Joe) and four great-granddaughters: Lillian, Quinn, and Josie Mathias and Hadley Burton. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Jerry and Carrie Lambert, Husband; Mack Avant, Siblings: Margie Avant, Jerry Lambert Jr., Kenny Lambert and Ravon Lambert, and Son in law; Bubba Cummins There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Alpine, Layton Campus located at 254 West 2675 North, Layton on Saturday, March 23 at 10:00 a.m. Everyone is invited to come celebrate as we rejoice in her reunion with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
