Gilbert J. Trepkowski (Gib, Gibby) Saginaw, Michigan Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at his home with the love us his family. Gilbert was born on July 14, 1933 to the late Peter and Anna (Grai) Trepkowski. He was a former member of St. Josaphat and St Helen Catholic Church and a current member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister.

His family and faith were his most precious treasures. Gilbert enjoyed gardening which was a beautiful presence at his home as well as entertaining family and friends. He went to the YMCA daily.

Gilbert served in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from Wickes Engineered Materials as a Nuclear Aircraft Audio Specialist Inspector with 37 years of service. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4232, American Legion Post #439 and the YMCA. Gilbert married his loving wife Shirley Ann Fortier on October 26, 1957.

She passed on March 18, 2008. Gilbert and Shirley were blessed with five children and two beautiful grandchildren. Children: Paul Trepkowski, Denis Trepkowski (passed 2008), Michele Trepkowski, John (Jacqueline) Trepkowski and Steven Trepkowski.

Grandchildren: Brianna Trepkowski and Tyler Trepkowski. Gilbert had a special place in his heart for his nieces, nephews and many thoughtful and caring friends. He is survived by his in-laws: Robert (Shirley) Fortier and Gerald-deceased (Alice) Fortier.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Elizabeth Fortier, his siblings, Ralph (Margaret) Trepkowski, Frank (Gwen) Trepkowski, Art (Pauline) Trepkowski, Arvin (Nadine) Trepkowski, Dolores (Eugene) Brzeczkiewicz and Marian Nowak. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave. , Saginaw.

Rev. Fr. Thai Nguyen and Deacon Roger Pasionek will officiate.

Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by American Legion Post #439. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.

, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Knights of Columbus Council #4232 will pray the Rosary on Friday at 3:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
