Saginaw, Michigan Beloved father and grandfather passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at Shields Comfort Care. Age 81 years. The son of the late Margaret M. (Schmidt) Reid, Wally was born on May 23, 1938 in Saginaw, Michigan.

He married Mary Margaret Henkel on September 23, 1961. She predeceased him on March 12, 2015. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959 and then was in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1959 to 1961.

Wally was employed as a Security and Safety Officer for Hemlock Semiconductor for 30 years. For more than 50 years Wally, alongside his wife Mary, entertained the Great Lakes Bay Region with magic. Wally was well known in the Magic Entertainment Business and performed at many local venues, children parties and retirement communities.

He was a member of International Brotherhood of Magicians and Society of American Magicians for over 35 years. While still working for HSC, Wally was the inspiration of “Magic of Reading”, a program that was developed to help and promote school age children to read with the use of magic. Wally was the recipient of two time national award winner for best illusion through the Linking Ring Magazine and was featured as inventor of the year with MUM Magazine.

Over many years, he wrote two books on illusions and stage magic and still had one unpublished manuscript. Surviving are his children, Sherrie (Terry) Lich, Saginaw; James (Eric Singer) Singer- Reid, Greensboro, North Carolina; Christopher (Missy Weaver) Reid, Canton; two grandchildren, John Joseph Lich and London Reid; a niece, Debra Van Aelst. Wally was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald R. Reid.

Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate.

Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Military Honors rendered. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. , (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
