Obituary for Gladys A. Wojtanowski Gladys A. Wojtanowski, 81, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on Monday, October 29, 2018, at home with her family by her side. Gladys (Gladie) was born on February 4, 1937, in Rome, the daughter of the late Anthony and Sadie (Gleba) Lombard. She attended John F. Hughes Elementary and Utica Free Academy.
Gladie married the love of her life and best friend, Michael “Mikey” Wojtanowski, on July 27, 1957. Early in life, Gladie worked at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Miles Shoe Store, General Electric and Homestead Savings and Loan. She enjoyed being involved in the Parent Educators Association and other activities at Holy Trinity Church and School.
She was a member of Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Commander in Disabled American Veterans and supporter of Paralyzed Veterans of America, along with being a member of Holy Trinity Church. Gladie loved camping, fishing, photography, writing and all the activities involving her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She truly believed in the Blessed Mother for answering her prayers and St. Anthony for helping find lost items.
Gladie loved family dinners, babysitting and just being with family. They were her world. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Michael; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael J., III and Lori Wojtanowski, Clinton; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Frank Buffa, Utica; grandchildren, Cori (Edward) Jasewicz, Kimberly (Michael) Strong, Erika (Ben) Fusco, Frank Buffa, III, Michael (Kelly) Buffa, Julia Buffa, Megan (Robert) Slater; great grandchildren, Johnny Michael, Alyana, Maci, Joseph, Frankie, Reina, Jaxon and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Gladie was predeceased by 2 sisters, Carol (Joseph) Soldato and Anna Mae (James “Clint”) Farmer. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd. , Utica.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Gladie’s name may be made to “Raise the Roof” at Holy Trinity Church.
Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Gladie’s family would like to thank Dr. William Ryan for his compassionate care throughout the years. “Would I want to relive the past 81 years?
