Gloria Jean Lamb Baber December 12, 1940 – February 14, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries Gloria (Glo) Lamb Baber went home to be with her first love, The Lord Jesus Christ, on February 14, 2019. She now joins her mother, Mary Kirby Parrish and her father, F.G. (Bud) Lamb, who went home before her. Glo leaves behind to remember and celebrate her life, her loving and caring step-father, George C. (Cecil) Parrish of Charlottesville, VA.

Also, her three siblings: Jim Lamb (Brenda) of South Carolina, Becky Abell Yancey (LeRoy) of Amherst, VA, and Richard (Rich) Lamb (Linda) of Florida. Also left to Remember Aunt Glo and celebrate her life are six nephews and niece, whom she loved as her own. They and their families will celebrate with fond and cherished memories.

Left behind in her family’s care is her beloved Kane, her precious canine little boy. Glo was retired from Teledyne Avionics after a 40+ year career and most recently employed at Michie Tavern where she was a top-notch salesperson, hostess to so many, and friend to all. We can honestly say that Glo never met a stranger and shared her love and her faith with everyone who would receive it.

Glo was a member of Cherry Avenue Christian Church where she served in many capacities for over 50 years. Her latest ministry was teaching the Homebuilders class and being a devoted visiting missionary to so many shut-ins. Glo was one of those rare and unique individuals who lived out her life with passionate faith, and in such practical ways.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew her, especially her family and dearest friends. Her last “will and testimony” to all who are reading this is: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge the Lord and He will guide your every step”.

(Proverbs 3:3-5) Heaven has now received one of God’s most precious children. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday February 18, 2019 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday February 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Cherry Avenue Christian Church with Pastor Scott Carter officiating.

Interment will follow at Holly Memorial gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cherry Avenue Christian Church, 1720 Cherry Avenue, Charlottesville, Va. 22903 or the SPCA, P. O. Box 7047, Charlottesville, Va.
