Glori Louise Sickel Smith , April 29, 1923 — February 13, 2019

Gloria Louise (Sickels) Smith of Easton, PA, passed on from this life to be with her friend and Lord, Jesus, on February 13, 2019, at 95 years of age. Born April 29, 1923, in Phillipsburg, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Stewart and Mary Amaryllis (Fisher) Sickels. She grew up in Phillipsburg and rooted for the P’burg Stateliners football team at Thanksgiving throughout her life.

Gloria and her husband Carl Joseph Henry Smith married September 9, 1949, and they made a home together in Easton until he passed away after 46 years of loving marriage. She continued to live at their home until 2014. Over the years, she taught Sunday school and was a quilter at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was a member throughout her adult life.

She was a Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout assistant leader. Gloria retired from Country Miss and had worked for Woolworth’s, Magnetic Windings, and The Main Street 5 & 10. Most of all, Gloria loved people.

She made friends everywhere and made people feel loved, welcome and understood. Her home, patio, and kitchen table were gathering places for friends, neighbors and family where a cup of coffee, laughter, and warm conversation were always available. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Gloria’s love and care extended to animals, and she made sure pets had a special treat on New Year’s Eve. Surviving are a son, Gary K. Smith (Jane) and daughter, Gayle L. Ryan (Michael); four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband, Carl, son Carl Dennis, and her brothers and sister, Llewelyn Sickels, Robert Sickels, and Virginia Maynard.

The family would like to thank the staff at Old Orchard Health Care Center for their friendship and loving care of Gloria. She viewed that as her home since 2014 and loved how special everyone made her feel. Services will be held at 11am Monday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 602 W. Berwick Street, Easton.
