Richard Harold Dech, 91, of Forks Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 in Easton Hospital. Born September 3, 1927, in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late Harold and Joycelyn (Newbaker) Dech. Richard was married to Eleanor (Rush) Dech and would have celebrated 71 years of marriage in June.

They met in their late teens and shared the love of Big Band music and dancing at “Danceland” on Northampton Street. Richard graduated from Easton High School Class of 1945, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September of that year. He was employed by Ingersoll Rand, Cameron Division, for thirty-five years, retiring in 1985.

He spent his early retirement years caring for his aging parents. Richard was a husband and father that not only provided for his family, but when Ingersoll went on strike, had three part-time jobs to support his family. He provided examples and expectations for his four daughters that carried forward into their adult years.

He also loved family gatherings and outings with longtime friends and neighbors. His family will always remember the great times at his parents’ home for Sunday breakfasts, still a family tradition today. In addition to his loving wife, Eleanor, Richard is survived by four daughters, Lynn Dech Pintande (Nicholas), of Easton, JoAnn Dech-August (Dave), of Pittsburgh, Terri Dech (Bob Blanchfield), of Easton and Lori Frankenfield, of Harmony Township, NJ.

He was also blessed with five grandchildren, Gabriel, Jesse and Dylan August, and Kyle and Ali Frankenfield and six great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a sister, Joyce Price, sister-in-law, Joyce Dech and cousin, Jeanne Hennessey, with whom he was very close. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Richard “Footer” Frankenfield, a brother, Jim Dech and close friend and brother-in-law, Bob Price.

Memorial visitations will be held on Sunday, February 17th from 2-4pm and Monday, February 18 from 10-11am followed by a Celebration of Life at 11am Monday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson Borough.
