Anniston – Gregory Joe Hughston, age 63, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018, at RMC of Anniston. He was born on June 23, 1954, in Anniston, Alabama to Billy Joe and Betty Jo Hughston. He married Barbara Jean on August 26, 2006.

Greg was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard in which he served 20 years; he served an additional 18 in civil service. Greg really enjoyed Alabama football, traveling, chatting with his friends, and spending time with his wife, Barbara, and dog, Bama. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; brother, Jeff Hughston; son, Gregory Hughtston, Jr.; son, Ryan (Renea) Hughston; step-son, Doug (Tracy) Hampton; step-daughter, Rebecca Hampton (John Howell); step-daughter, Deborah (Mitchell) Wright; ; grandchildren: Bliss (Lance) Hubbard, Kendall Cook, Cortney Cook, Makala Cook, Tyler Hampton, Chelsea Watson, Sara Hampton, Calen Wright, Josh Howell, Jake Hampton, and Braden Wright; great-grandchildren: Easton Hubbard, Charlee Tayt Hubbard, and Crew Freeman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe and Betty Jo Hughston; sister, Pam Arnold; and grandson, Cody Watson. Pallbearers include: Keith Nunnally, Jeff Dickerson, Tyler Hampton, Calen Wright, Josh Howell, and Jake Hampton. The family will receive friends and others whose lives Greg touched at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home today from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral service and a celebration of Greg’s life will be Thursday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
