Gregory Lavonne Speir, 57, of Midway, Georgia, formerly of Bronwood, passed away on June 2, 2018 at Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville. Funeral services will be held at Bronwood Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, with interment to follow in Bronwood City Cemetery. Rev.

Jeff Carter and Rev. Bill Lee will officiate. Also assisting in the service will be his son, Joshua Speir.

A visitation will be held at Harvey Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Greg was born in Dawson, Georgia on April 5, 1961. He held an Associate’s degree from Darton College and was a 2004 graduate of South Georgia Technical College with an emphasis on Aviation Maintenance Technology. He farmed for over twenty years before beginning a thirteen-year career with Gulfstream as Senior Aircraft Mechanic.

He held a private pilot’s license and was skilled in craftsmanship which he enjoyed as a hobby. Greg was an active member at Compassion Christian Church, serving as usher and participating in various outreach ministries. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include his parents, Lavonne and Rachel Speir of Bronwood; children, Molly Amanda Speir Taylor (Patrick) of Ellaville and Joshua Medlock Speir (Danielle) of Spokane, Washington; grandchildren, Lyla Ruth, Emalyn Grace, Samuel Joseph and Madeline Joy Taylor; sister, Pam Speir Johnson (Billups) of Leesburg; brother, Woody Speir (Lisa) of Leesburg; the mother of his children, Molly Medlock Speir of Plains; nieces and nephews, Millie and Reese Foster and Carson, Carter, Caroline and Chloe Kate Speir; and his close companion, Josie Mallari of Midway.
