Hakim I Cooper Obituary Photo

Hakim Isaiah Cooper was born February 9, 2005 to Arlene Naeole and Hodari Toussaint Cooper in Martinez, California. Hakim attended Ygnacio Valley Elementary, Oak Grove Middle and Martinez Jr. High Schools. He was the seventh of eight children and was the apple of his mom’s eye.

He was truly a momma’s boy and a ray of sunshine. He was always smiling and ready to help whenever called upon. He was attached at the hip to mom when he was around her, and always looking to make her smile and share his love.

Hakim was full of laughter, light, and love and you couldn’t be around him if you were mad or sad because he was going to make you smile, and tell you “it’s ok” and then do something hilarious. Hakim’s older siblings remarked he was quiet unless he wanted you to know something, however he was also goofy and playful. He loved fortnight with all his heart and soul, and he could be obnoxious around siblings, but he liked people, so it was hard to be mad at him.

He enjoyed basketball and planned to play football in the fall. Hakim was a young person with style and appreciated diversity in colors and style. When his sibling asked about his favorite colors agreed he alternated between red and blue depending on what he liked in the moment.

Hakim’s favorite pass times included watching YouTube, harassing his sister Halimah, and playing with friends Charles and Camden. When asked about Hakim’s favorite foods, his mom remarked, he “loved fried chicken, that’s all he wanted”. As mom reflected on Hakim’s life she whispered, “he was smart, he always wanted to build things, he liked fast cars, and he was all that”.

Hakim leaves to mourn and cherish his memories mother Arlene Naeole, father Hodari Cooper, grandmother Gloria Allen, brothers Rahman, Khalil, Jared, Zak and Marcel; Sisters Zahrinah, Haunani, Halimah, Honey, April and Rivka, and a host of aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.
