Hodari Toussaint Cooper II was born to parents Arlene Naeole and Hordari Toussaint Cooper on January 6, 1998 in Oakland, California. Hodari attended Bancroft Elementary, Oak Grove Middle and Ygnacio Valley High School. He enjoyed all genres of music, basketball, loved football, and spending time with family and friends.

He had goals to “make it big” playing basketball and performing in the music industry. Hodari was special and stood among his peers and was crowned home coming king in October 20, 2015. He was his mom’s rock.

He hated when she cried and always supported her when she was down. When his mom settled in her new place, he noticed she was carrying a backpack and bought her a purse saying, “you are too old for a back pack”. His dad recalls him being receptive to encouragement related to pursing his goals and dreams.

Dad recalls telling Hodari-kings go out and take what they want-and his response to these parental words of wisdom was “right on pop’s”. As his older brothers reflected on their time together Rahman stated “Dari was our little brother, but we looked up to him”, and Khalil agreed. Hodari had a special relationship with April Stark.

They were in covenant relationship over four-years. They met in middle school around 7th-8th grade and they immediately became friends, best friends. Hodari and April were friends over the years.

As April recalls she loved Dari early on in their friendship. When asked about what she loved, about Dari most April shared Dari was “selfless”. He cared for other people and put them first.

When reflecting on their future together April shared they planned to continue growing together and maturing into a family. When asked what their plans were, April shared “we were planning to go to school, continue traveling, and move into a place of our own with Hakim because they were inseparable”. In her closing reflection about the time they spent together, April shared, “we are soulmates”.

Hodari leaves to mourn and cherish his memories mother Arlene Naeole, father Hodari Cooper, grandmother Gloria Allen, brothers Rahman, Khalil, Jared and Zak, and Marcel Sisters Zahrinah, Haunani, Halimah, Honey, and Rivka, and a host of aunties, uncles, cousins, and friends.
