Obituary for Harold Hess Mr. Harold Leonard Hess, age 68, of the Lynn Springs section of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Saturday (July 14, 2018) at his home. Born August 15, 1949 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late Harvey Hess and Ellie Mays Hale. He had spent most of his life in the Swords Creek area and was a disabled coal miner, having been employed at several area coal mines.

He enjoyed fishing and woodworking, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings, Eugene Hess, H.L. Hess, Danny Hess, Beulah Richardson, Eula Richardson, Ruby Ray, Ollie Ward, and Dorothy Dye. Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Jeanette Hess of the home; two children, Mark Hess and wife, Carmen of Richlands and Stephanie Miller and husband, Mike of Honaker; four grandchildren, Chase Miller, Makenna Miller, Madison Hess, and Chandler Hess; four siblings, Raymond Hess, Fredia Lambert, Della Hess, and Daisy Hess; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, July 23, 2018 at Perkins Chapel in Swords Creek, Virginia with Rev. Steve Ray officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until the service hour.
