Obituary for Shirley Carpenter Mrs. Shirley E. Carpenter, age 69, of Raven, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Thursday (August 30, 2018) at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, Virginia. Born July 10, 1949 in Tazewell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Troy M. and Juanita Charles Lawson. A lifelong resident of the area, she was caring homemaker, that loved her family and friends, especially her grandson.

She was a devoted Christian and enjoyed serving the Lord and attended numerous churches throughout the area. She will be missed by many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mose B. Charles and Martha Webb and Alta and Gilmer Cox; three sisters, Connie C. Shelton, Joyce Ann Lawson and Donna Shervone Lawson; two brothers, Winfred Eugene Lawson and Leonard Lawson.

Survivors include one daughter, Susie A. Shepherd and husband, Tim of Raven, Virginia; one grandson, Tim Lee Shepherd, Jr. of Raven, Virginia; three brothers, Billy A. Lawson and wife, Sue of Madison, Ohio, Mike Lawson of Trinity, North Carolina and Lawrence W. Lawson and wife, Sherry of Thomasville, North Carolina; one special great-great-nephew, Larry Joe Arnold; special caregivers, Roy and Sandy Griffith; special friends, Violet Broaski and Sandy Lester; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Douglas Smith and Rev.

Lawrence Cantrell officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Interment will follow.

Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roy Griffith, Ricky Griffith, Ricky Lawson, relatives and friends. John Shepherd will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
