Obituary for Peggy Jean Perkins (Hess) Mrs. Peggy Jean Hess Perkins, age 86, of the Miller Creek section of Swords Creek, Virginia, entered her Heavenly home on Tuesday (November 6, 2018) at Bristol Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Born March 10, 1932 in Swords Creek, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late William Hobert and Tina Octavia Hess. A lifelong resident of Swords Creek, she was a loving and hardworking wife, mother, and homemaker, as well as a devoted Christian with an unwavering faith in God.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening, but most of all spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Junior “June” Perkins, one grandson, Travis Vencill, four brothers, Harold Hess, Winston Hess, Bobby Hess, and Jimmy Hess, and two sisters, Nora Mae Dye and Annie Hess. Survivors include five children, Darrell Perkins and wife, Sylvia of Miller Creek, Patty Vencill and husband, Steve of Claypool Hill, Terry Perkins and wife, Debbie of Swords Creek, Debbie Childress and husband, Jeff, and Sandy Ray and husband, Tim all of Miller Creek; ten grandchildren, William Perkins, Chris Perkins, Laura Richardson, Ben Vencill, Lindsey Vencill, Brandon Perkins, Claude Ray, Timmy Ray, Olivia Ray, and Brent Ray; one brother, Billy Hess; five sisters, Shirley Hess, Ruby Dye, Sue Hess, Geraldine Hess, and Shelby Lowe; special friends, Naomi Ray and Virginia Gillespie; fourteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia, with Rev. David Perkins, Rev. Scotty Perkins, and Rev.

Phillip Horton officiating. Interment will follow in the Perkins Cemetery at Drill, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
