Obituary for Dorothy Marie Stevens (Sykes) Dorothy Marie Sykes Stevens, age 82, of Abingdon, Virginia passed away Thursday (December 6, 2018) in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital. Born December 22, 1935 in Russell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Kate Dye Sykes. A lifelong resident of the area, she attended Drill Chapel.

She was a graduate of Whitewood High School and had been employed at Honaker Mills and Lebanon Apparel. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Albert Stevens; one daughter, Carol Stevens Peck; one son, Gerald Stevens; granddaughter, Jessica Peck; great-grandson, Josiah Peck and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Lola Stevens Wells and husband, Douglas and Nancy Stevens Starnes and husband, Steve both of Abingdon, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Debbie Sullivan Stevens of Honaker, Virginia; two sisters, Connie Sorace and husband, Bill of Yardley, Pennsylvania and Jeanette Wright and husband, Joe of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother, Russell Sykes and wife, Selina of Lebanon, Virginia; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Cancer Outreach Foundation, 104 Abingdon Place, Abingdon, VA 24211. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.

Chester Ball officiating. Interment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Doug Wells, Steve Starnes, Scott Clear, Terry Addison, Justin Ferguson and Russell Sykes.
