Obituary for Darrell “Shade” Ball Mr. Darrell “Shade” Ball, age 60, of the Clarks Valley section of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Saturday (December 1, 2018) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born January 20, 1958 in Tazewell County, Virginia, he was a lifelong resident of the area and was of the Holiness faith. A disabled coal miner, he had formerly been employed by Bostic Coal and Island Creek Coal Company.
He enjoyed working on cars, doing carpentry work, but most of all spending time with his family. He loved his friends and family, but most of all he loved his sweet Jesus. He was preceded in death by his father, Reece Elmer Ball, his mother, Stella Mae Whited Ball, who passed away July 14, 2018, his twin brother, Harold Buck Ball, and one nephew, Jason Hess.
Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-six years, Dolly Ball; two sisters, Barbara Hess and husband, Glen and Cathy Keen and husband, Toby; one brother, Emory Ball and wife, Teresa; sister-in-law, Leisha Ball; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. David Perkins and Rev.
Walter Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in the Dye Cemetery at the Strouth Creek section of Swords Creek, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Bernie Dye, Joshua Dye, Bobby Keen, Gary Deskins, Randy Hughes, and Scottie Rumbly.
Honorary pallbearers will be Toby Keen, Billy Dye, Glen Hess, Thomas Rickman, Steve Damron, Bobby Dye, Aaron Keen, Arthur Barnes, Pete Duty, Rick Duty, and Jerry Vance. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Monday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
