Obituary for Larry Daniel Miller Mr. Larry Daniel Miller, age 75, of Powell, Tennessee, formerly of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Monday (February 18, 2019 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born June 22, 1943 in the Miller Creek section of Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Leo Kenneth and Martha Jane Boyd Miller. He had lived most of his life in Russell county, prior to moving to Powell, Tennessee in 2013.
A retired coal miner with thirty-three years of service, he had formerly been employed by Island Creek Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA Local 2232. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Sammy Miller, Jimmy Miller, and David Miller. Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Shelvia Miller of the home; three sons, Jerry Miller of Knoxville, Jeffery Miller and wife, Cecile of North Carolina, and Dave Miller and wife, Lindsey of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Camille Miller, Ethan Miller, Emily Miller, Stephen Miller, and Landon Miller; one sister, Peggy Stilwell of Abingdon; one niece, Shelia Mullins of Abingdon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Steve Perkins officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Graveside honors will be conducted by the UMWA Sub 28 Chaplain Corp. Pallbearers will be Wayne Stilwell, Jeff Miller, Jerry Miller, Dave Miller, Ethan Miller, Stephen Miller, and Jonathan Mullins. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Thursday.
